American Legion Post 9 Remembers Ron Louis Sobala

American Legion Post 9 mourns the passing of our fellow member, Ron Louis Sobala, 78, of Brunswick, who passed away on September 1, 2026.

Ron was born September 9, 1947, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Raul Lopez Castillo, II and Bonelle Brown Castillo. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Ron built a career in the Engineering Department at FLETC, from which he later retired.

Ron was a valued member of our Post, and his service and dedication to our community will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lea Sobala; sons Jason Jon Sobala of Miami, FL, and Christopher Luiz Pizzano-Sobala (Lauren Franklin Sobala) of Brunswick; grandchildren Sophia Rose Sobala and Scarlett Belle Sobala; a brother, Anthony Castillo; and a sister, Anita Obuela Grande.

Private services will be held at a later date. Our thoughts are with the Sobala family during this difficult time.
